Since 2001 I have been part of the crew planning, rigging, dressing, stage managing and performing at the Roots Yard a JA style reggae compound, stage and sound system at the Shambala Festival, UK.
This festival stage grew out of our collectives weekly Jam Jah Monday Reggae night in Moseley, Birmingham. Led by the unmatchable Robin Giorno the Roots Yard has grown in the last 20 years from a single speaker stack and an old, leaking army tent to the ‘true Shambala institution’ it is today. In the last 20 years we have staged the best of UK and international Reggae and Dance hall artists. We continue to support new and emerging artists, producers and engineers by providing opportunities and guidance for the new generation of soundsystem crews.
“The Roots Yard is a haven of reggae, roots, dub and dancehall, with a smidgeon of jungle, in the heart of our little festival. From breakfast to bedtime, the Roots Yard shanti compound provides for the soul, body and heart.
