In 2019, I worked with Bristol City Futures 'One City Office', in collaboration with the Centre for Innovation and Entrepreneurship, to develop the Connected Bristol Conference. The programme formed part of a wider initiative to build a Toolbox for Change and Transformation in Bristol, bringing together perspectives from across the city on how change is imagined, designed, and put into practice.
Designed as a student-focused platform, the conference connected academic learning with civic, cultural, and entrepreneurial practice. I curated a diverse programme of Bristol-based speakers and organisations, each invited to share how they approach transformation across policy, design, technology, community organising, and enterprise.
The conference was delivered through a series of talks and workshops hosted in venues across Bristol, developed in partnership with: Rolls-Royce, We The Curious, Golden Key, Engine Shed, Hope International, Create Centre, Industry of Us, and Munday & Anson.
I acted as Chair and Lead Producer, shaping the conference ethos and structure. My responsibilities included developing the programme, coordinating partners and speakers, chairing sessions, working with a live scribe to capture discussions, and designing and producing all printed materials from concept through to distribution.
The conference created meaningful opportunities for students to engage directly with organisations shaping Bristol’s future, while contributing to the City Futures ambition of making knowledge about change and transformation practical, accessible, and locally grounded.
