Leviathan: The Deep marked a return to Melbu, expanding the research and collaborations initiated during the Neptun Art/Science Lab residency. The project was developed for the Arctic Dialogues Conference and combined installation, performance, and exhibition into a week-long programme.
The work consisted of an audio-visual installation, an exhibition of outcomes from the Art/Science Lab residencies, and two live performances of a specially commissioned musical score by composer Maja Bugge, performed with classical guitarist Svanur Vilbergsson. The project also involved collaboration with a local refugee centre and primary school, embedding community participation within the work.
Presented in the Royal Neptun Hall, Leviathan: The Deep extended the Leviathan narrative into a collective, performative encounter, positioning sound, migration, and deep time as interwoven themes within the Arctic context.
