A Collocated Space in 'Digital' Fine Art Teaching, PGCert HE dissertation
In 2015/16, as part of my PGCert HE at UWE and FHEA fellowship, I conducted a grounded theory study on blended learning in the MA Fine Art Digital program at Camberwell College of Arts (UAL). At the time, I was Program Leader for the Digital Media BSc at UWE and also worked as an Associate Lecturer at Camberwell, teaching on the MA and supervising dissertations.
The research examined social interactions between lecturers, guest speakers, and collocated student groups (online and in-person) during a seminar using free web-based technologies. Through naturalistic observation and semi-structured interviews, I developed an inductive analysis that revealed key themes around managing systems and shared spaces, offering insights into the complexities of online teaching within creative education.
This study informed my approach to digital pedagogy and blended learning design, shaping how I integrate technology into creative, collaborative teaching environments.
